DON’T PROCRASTINATE, MAKE IT HAPPEN.

While you are waiting, life is happening all around you. Make your wish list your work list. Your need to get on to the road to find the destination.

“I am going to make it big. Take the world by storm. Be the next sensation, then they will know what I am capable of.” If you are one of these people then, this is baking a cake with invisible dough. You are dreaming with your eyes open.

And if you are one of those, “What if I can’t do it? What if I can’t finish it? What if no one likes it?” With boundless questions swimming haphazardly through your head, you are draining your body of all the energy that you could have used to start. To translate your dreams and into reality, ideas need action.

Both the procrastinators will probably end up in the same place… “Nowhere”.

It is essential that one gives a time bound period to every planning. Sometimes the process of the planning, the dissecting of pros n cons, the wait to start, downs the enthusiasm altogether. In the process of making everything perfect one the zest and excitement of the goal is lost.

At the same time, randomly punching all notes is not going to make a pianist out of you. There is a certain symphony required to make a good orchestra. Of course one must keep a margin for doing things instinctively. But to accomplish greater heights it takes time with discipline, persistence and perseverance which help you hon your instincts to direct you at a greater level of accuracy. Educate yourself before you start so you don’t make foolish mistakes. It never hurts to ask questions from people with experience. Even if you don’t agree you always learn another perspective. But do kick yourself on the butt and move, take a step that will help you climb the mountain.

If one has failed earlier then beginning again can become a challenge. But for a new day to begin, the sun must set to rise again…understanding this simple phenomena of nature will allow us to accept our failures / setbacks as a mere phase in our journey. Many of us are so worried about what other people are going to say that we are ready to give up even before we begin. The fear of failure, social stigma/peer disdain is so ingrained into our psychic that we burden ourselves with that forethought before even attempting the first step. Here it often helps to remember to cross the bridge when you come to it instead of carrying the baggage before you begin the journey. Travel light, keep your hands free and your mind open as you backpack the world.

Procrastination is not going to get you to your destination. Either which way, you will have to take the plunge. Basic survival instincts are so strong that you will not drown for sure. You will either learn to swim and reach the other side or pull yourself out and realise that this is not for you but it won’t be without having tried. That in itself is a lesson learnt. So go ahead and…Just do it.
